The Cellars
Tenimenti d'Alessandro has garnered tremendous praise for the production of fine wines, particularly the notable "Il Bosco."
The vineyard lies on historical lands that housed the medieval nobility of Cortona. Over the centuries, the estate evolved into a working farm, and finally a winery in 1967.
Since 1988 the winery has been an internationally recognized label of 100% Syrah. The dry climate, ample sunlight, scarcity of rain and the peculiar, yet highly suitable, terrain, make for excellent growing conditions. Plus, the region maintains D.O.C. recognition.
Most of the wines come from the Syrah grape, most notably "Il Bosco," an elite wine rated 95 by Wine Spectator for its complex subtlety, layered with aromas of blackberry and dark chocolate and coffee. Cortona Syrah D.O.C., identical to "Il Bosco" but distinct in attributes accounting for the youth of the vines, rounds out the Syrah variety production.
The winery also produces a red labeled Migliara, which while in its infancy has secured a 98 rating, as well as a white, labeled Fontarca, which is a blend of Chardonnay and Voignier, presenting oak-heavy and fruity tones, with an aromatic character at once floral and caramel.
